2nd Avenue Park
Situated at the intersection of Robert B. Cullum Boulevard and Martin Luther King Boulevard, the 1.2-acre 2nd Avenue Park at Fair Park is poised to transform a parking lot into a vibrant green oasis for the community at one of Fair Park’s primary gateways. This revitalized space will serve as a welcoming entrance to Fair Park, providing a year-round neighborhood park that fosters outdoor recreation, social engagement, and community well-being.
In partnership with the Texas Trees Foundation, the park will also function as a Cool Schools Neighborhood Park, promoting environmental education and creating opportunities for local schools to engage with nature. This initiative goes beyond beautifying Fair Park; it supports sustainability and a healthier lifestyle for all community members.
The 2nd Avenue Park will feature a variety of amenities designed to enhance community interaction and enjoyment, including:
- Native landscaping, overstory trees, and rich, colorful plantings
- Walking paths
- Play structures
- Spaces for public gatherings and outdoor learning
Additionally, the park will incorporate educational components related to the Cool Schools program. These elements will offer students and visitors insights into the importance of their outdoor environment while teaching aspects of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
