A native of Oak Cliff and resident of South Dallas in Dallas, TX, Lubbock Smith III serves as the Senior Vice President & Director of Community Development and Vista Outreach at Vista Bank. He brings over ten years of experience in building educational and community outreach programs, business development, and leadership. In his current position, Lubbock leads Vista Bank’s South Dallas banking center as he focuses on lending, banking relationships, investments, CRA, financial literacy education, business development, marketing, outreach, and strategy, with an emphasize on small business opportunities developing strategic partnerships.
After graduating from Carter High School with a full athletic scholarship, Lubbock attended the University of Kansas, earning a bachelor's in Sociology and a master's in Higher Education, and will be graduating with a graduate degree from SMU Southwestern Graduate School of Banking in June 2025. During his Division-1 football career at Kansas as a 4-year starter at safety, he had many career honors, including earning CollegeFootballNews.com's 'Freshman All-American' honorable mention and The Sporting News 'Freshman All-Big 12' team award in 2008.
Lubbock began his professional career working in various academic advisory and student-athlete development roles for Division 1 athletic programs at the University of Kansas, the University of Southern California, and Old Dominion University. In 2020 Lubbock made a career shift, teaching 3rd-grade math and 8thgrade algebra at KIPP Truth Elementary and Academy in Dallas.
He was named an honoree of the 2025 Dallas 500 (D500) by D CEO Magazine, being recognized as one of the most influential business leaders in the city. He also received Dallas Business Journal “Community Champion” honor for their 2023 Leaders in Diversity Awards, 2023 COSIGN Magazine “Community Leader of the Year” award, and 2023 Toast for Charity “Community Champions Award” recipient. He currently serves as a fiduciary board member of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce and Fair Park First.
An entrepreneur at heart, Lubbock owns a consulting business and serves as a Co-Founder, Partner, and Board Director at Builtin Realty & Investment Group.
Husband to his wife Diana and father of their six-year-old daughter Genesis and three month old son Ezrael, Lubbock is a lover of Christ and a servant-leader for his community.
